RJ McLeod is one of Scotland’s largest privately owned civil engineering and building contractors. For over 70 years they have successfully delivered solutions to meet the needs of their clients.
In often logistically demanding locations, their experience, expertise and resources has allowed them to build a proven track record in Britain’s civil engineering and infrastructure, a contribution that has taken a variety of forms.
RJ McLeod employ over 200 staff and 200 operatives who are supported by a plant, transport and equipment resource of approximately £30m.
RJ McLeod have a dedicated Quality, Safety, Environmental and Training (QSET) department and have implemented Health and Safety Procedures to ensure they continue to meet – and go beyond – their legal obligations in relation to the safety of their employees, subcontractors and the general public. They are accredited with Constructionline, UVDB Verify, the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) and SmartWaste.
RJ McLeod are a member of the Civil Engineering Contractors’ Association (Scotland) and they take on board CECA’s Health and Safety and Training strategies.
Other memberships include the Scottish Plant Owners’ Association, the Scottish
Renewables Forum and the Scottish Civils Training Group and they have been signatories to the Energy & Utilities Skills Partnership - Skills Accord since 2016. RJ McLeod are one of the founding members of the Powering Net Zero Pact (PNZP).
In 2020 the company became members of SafetyOn, the Health and Safety organisation for the onshore wind sector.
Marine
RJ McLeod’s experience in developing the country’s coastal infrastructure includes sea defence works, breakwaters, causeways, harbours and jetty construction. Many of these projects are typically isolated geographically and demanding on both labour and plant. With over 70 years’ experience of working in this challenging environment, their team understand the risks associated with marine works and have the knowledge, skills and resources to manage these effectively.
Energy
With over 100 onshore wind farms to RJ McLeod's name (around 4GW), and hydro energy experience dating back to the 1950s, they are one of the leading renewable energy construction companies in Scotland. RJ McLeod have proven Design and Build capabilities in civils and balance of plant for onshore wind, hydro, and wave energy, as well as electrical grid works such as substations, battery storage, synchronous condensers, and underground cable works. Their team have recently added hydrogen to their experience with their work on a new electrolyser production facility. Being one of the early members of Scottish Renewables industry group
further demonstrates RJ McLeod's commitment to the renewable industry.
