The challenge

By 2033 the number of people aged 85 and over is projected to account for 5% of the total population. Analysis by the Housing LIN and Elderly Accommodation Council (EAC) suggests a shortfall of 240,000 units of purpose built housing for older people by 2030 which will need to be fulfilled to stop the UK hitting crisis levels.

Our solution

SCAPE Scotland and our partners have been working with Local Authorities and Registered Providers to identify new models that involve land provision, cross subsidy from mixed tenure, and advice on construction and funding models to maintain the provision. We provide a unique service through SCAPE Scotland frameworks that provide Local Authorities with the option of working with our experienced care team to design & develop their available sites and offer a complete packaged solution to their operator partners for development & construction.
