The challenge

Achieving planning permission for any regeneration development means identifying a mix of uses that are acceptable in both commercial and planning terms. This requires co-ordination and management of multiple designers, engaging with local communities and minimising opposition.

On the ground, contamination and remediation issues and environmental impacts – flooding, ecology, woodland, special designated sites – have to be balanced with the need for an appropriate technical and aesthetic solution that meet planning legislation and demands.

Our solution

SCAPE and our framework partners have a deep understanding of complex engineering and building challenges e.g. Infrastructure, Utilities, Urban Master Planning, Temporary Works and Land Remediation. We have extensive experience of working in close proximity to live transport networks, interfacing with the public and dealing with congested sites and live services, including BIM (including integration with Facilities Maintenance). We also have the ability to lead large design teams, often with multiple architects needed to address the complex nature of the regeneration
