The challenge

Dealing with waste remains a challenge for every Local Authority. Being charged with finding ways of reusing and recycling more of what once was destined for landfill, Local Authorities are having to drive up recycling and composting rates by improving collection and treatment.

As well as liaising with stakeholders and managing planning, funding and changing government subsidies, Local Authorities have to balance the pressure of unfavourable public opinion with the need to deal with waste at a regional and national level.
